1.For the Church: that she may be new wineskins for the new wine of the Gospel, and not cling to what is worn out, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.For those who govern: that, knowing their own weakness, they may deal gently with those who go astray through ignorance, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For priests, called by God and taken from among their people: that they may offer prayer and sacrifice with patience for the weak, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.For those who pray with loud cries and tears: that God may hear them, as he heard his Son during his life on earth, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

1.For the Church: that she may hold fast to the hope set before her, a sure and steady anchor for the soul, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.For lawmakers and judges: that they may remember that the law was made to serve people, and not people to serve the law, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For the hungry, and for those who gather what others leave behind: that they may have bread, and that no rule may keep it from them, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

The readings in brief: Jonah preaches in Nineveh, the city turns from evil, and God spares it. Saint Paul warns that the time is short and that this world as we know it is passing away. Jesus announces that the kingdom of God is at hand and calls four fishermen, who leave their nets to follow him.

1.For the Church on this Sunday of the Word of God: that she may proclaim the Gospel as Jesus did, announcing that the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
