Prayers of the Faithful for Tuesday, 17th Week in Ordinary Time
Option 1
1.That the Church may preach without fear the reality of final judgment — that the Son of Man will send His angels to collect every cause of sin and all evildoers — and call all to repentance now, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That leaders of nations may govern in light of the truth that good and evil will be definitively separated, and choose justice and mercy rather than compromise with wrongdoing, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those burdened by the evil they see flourishing in the world, that Christ's promise — 'the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father' — may fill them with hope and patience, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may hear Jesus' explanation with sober hearts: the weeds are the children of the evil one, and we must choose each day which seed we allow to grow within us, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our parish, that we may be a community that takes seriously the call to holiness, knowing that the harvest is coming and that the righteous will shine like the sun in God's kingdom, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For a spirit of holy urgency, that we may root out the weeds of sin in our own lives before the harvest.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all the faithful departed may be gathered by the angels not as weeds but as wheat, shining forever in the kingdom of their Father, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Option 2
1.For Pope Leo XIV, that he may teach the Church the full truth of God's kingdom — its present hiddenness and its coming glory — so that all may live in holy readiness for the harvest, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That nations may not be deceived into thinking that evil has the final word: the Son of Man will send His angels at the close of the age, and justice will prevail, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who have been led astray by the children of the evil one, that they may turn back to Christ who alone is the Good Sower of truth and life, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may live each day as those destined to shine like the sun — choosing what is good, avoiding what is evil, and growing in the grace of God who tends His field with love, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our community, that the parable of the weeds may inspire in us not fear but purposeful holiness — living now as people who belong to the kingdom of the Father, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For all who have strayed into sin, that God's patient mercy may reach them before the harvest.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all who have died may be counted among the righteous who shine like the sun in the eternal kingdom of God, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Pro Life Option
1.That the Church may stand against the evil sown into our culture — the lie that innocent life may be discarded — and proclaim that every child sown by God will one day shine like the sun, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That lawmakers may root out the weeds of unjust laws that permit abortion, choosing instead to protect every life from conception as a child destined for God's kingdom, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For mothers in crisis who feel surrounded by pressure to choose abortion, that they may hear the Lord's voice above the noise and find the courage to protect the life within them, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may proclaim boldly that no human life is a weed to be uprooted, but every person is wheat sown by God and destined to shine in His kingdom, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our community, that we may be people of the harvest — laboring now to protect and welcome every human life, confident that justice will prevail on the day the Son of Man sends His angels, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For all who work to uproot the weeds of a culture of death, that their patient labor may bear fruit.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all innocent children lost before birth may shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father, gathered forever in His loving arms, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

About Prayers of the Faithful
The Prayers of the Faithful, also known as bidding prayers or general intercessions, are an essential part of the Catholic Mass. These prayers allow the congregation to intercede for the needs of the Church, the world, those in authority, those oppressed by various needs, the local community, and the deceased.
Our daily prayers are carefully crafted according to the liturgical calendar, ensuring that each day's intercessions are appropriate for the specific celebration, whether it be a solemnity, feast, memorial, or ordinary day of the liturgical year.
