Prayers of the Faithful for the SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Option 1
1.That the Church may be like the scribe trained for the kingdom — drawing from her treasury things both new and old — faithfully handing on Tradition while speaking freshly to each age, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That leaders of nations may seek the treasure hidden in the dignity of every human person and sell all that hinders them from protecting and serving it, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who have not yet found the pearl of great price, that they may encounter Christ — in whom all treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden — and joyfully surrender everything to follow Him, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may have the joy of the man who found treasure in a field: ready to sell all, to give up anything, for the incomparable privilege of belonging to God's kingdom, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our parish, that we may be a net cast wide into the sea — gathering all — and trust that at the end the Lord Himself will sort and save, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For a spirit of holy detachment, that we may hold no earthly thing above the treasure of God's kingdom.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all the faithful departed may have found in Christ the pearl of great price for which they gave their lives, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Option 2
1.For Pope Leo XIV, that he may help the Church understand and proclaim the kingdom of heaven — hidden in the world like treasure in a field, precious beyond all things like a pearl of great price, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That nations may recognize what alone gives lasting value to their society — truth, justice, and the dignity of every person — and not sacrifice these for lesser treasures, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who are searching for meaning and happiness, that they may discover in the Gospel the hidden treasure that satisfies every longing and is worth every sacrifice, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may imitate the merchant who, on finding one pearl of great price, went and sold everything he had — and bring that same total surrender to our following of Christ, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our community, that each member may recognize the extraordinary treasure they hold in faith, in the sacraments, in the Word of God — and share it generously with all, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For all who seek God with sincere hearts, that they may find in Christ the pearl beyond all price.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all who have died may be drawn from the net of this life into the kingdom where they shine in the Father's presence forever, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Variations if Memorial is not celebrated
Option 1
1.That the Church may always treasure what she has received — the Word of God, the sacraments, the saints — as the hidden treasure worth every sacrifice, and share it without reservation, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That those who govern may govern for the sake of treasure that endures — peace, dignity, justice — and not squander the common good for passing gain, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who sense a longing in their heart but have not yet named it as God, that they may stumble upon the hidden treasure of faith and find in it their life's true joy, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may be like the merchant who recognized the pearl of great price the moment he saw it — that we may recognize Christ in every moment, every person, every sacred text, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our parish, that we may cast our nets wide in welcome and evangelization, gathering in all sorts and trusting the Lord to bring the harvest to completion, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For a renewal of joy in our faith — that we may rediscover the treasure we have been given in Christ and the Church.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all who sold everything to follow Christ may now possess the treasure that does not fade — life with God forever, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Option 2
1.For Pope Leo XIV, that he may draw from the Church's treasury things new and old — proclaiming the ancient faith with fresh urgency to every generation, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That nations may look beyond economic treasure to the goods that cannot be measured: solidarity, forgiveness, truth, the dignity of the poor — and build societies around these, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who have wandered far from the Church, that the memory of the treasure they once held may draw them back to find it waiting for them still, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may understand that entering the kingdom costs everything — and give thanks that what we receive in return is worth infinitely more than all we surrender, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our community, that as scribes trained for the kingdom we may offer both the wisdom of tradition and the creativity of the Spirit to all who come to us seeking God, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For the grace to be scribes of the kingdom — drawing on Scripture, Tradition, and fresh inspiration to serve our time.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all who have died may be drawn safely to shore in God's net and welcomed into the kingdom prepared for them, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

About Prayers of the Faithful

These prayers allow the congregation to intercede for the needs of the Church, the world, those in authority, those oppressed by various needs, the local community, and the deceased.
Our daily prayers are carefully crafted according to the liturgical calendar, ensuring that each day's intercessions are appropriate for the specific celebration, whether it be a solemnity, feast, memorial, or ordinary day of the liturgical year.
