Prayers of the Faithful for 6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER

Option 1

1.That the Church, sustained by the Advocate who proceeds from the Father, may continue to testify boldly to Christ in every age—even when expelled, marginalized, or persecuted for his name, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That world leaders may recognize that the worst injustices are committed by those who believe they offer worship to God while doing evil, and so examine their consciences before acting, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who are persecuted for their faith, expelled from their communities because they follow Christ, that the Advocate sent by the Father may testify within them and give them courage, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may not be demoralized when the world treats the Gospel as a threat—remembering that Christ warned us, that we have been with him, and that we too are sent to testify, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.That our parish may be a resilient community of witnesses—knowing that what we face was predicted by Christ and that the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father stands with us, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For those who feel discouraged or demoralized in their Christian witness, that Christ's promise of the Advocate may renew their courage.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all who were expelled or persecuted for bearing witness to Christ may dwell with the one for whom they testified, in the Father's eternal presence, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

Option 2

1.For Pope Leo XIV, that the Advocate Christ sends from the Father may be his constant companion in testifying to the truth—especially when the world is hostile or indifferent, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That all Christians may recognize their calling as witnesses to Christ—like the disciples who were with him from the beginning—and testify with integrity and love to the faith they have received, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who face ridicule, job loss, or social exclusion because of their Christian convictions, that they may remember Christ's word: 'I have told you this so that you may not be demoralized,' let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may draw strength from knowing that the Spirit of truth proceeds from the Father himself, and that our testimony is not our own but carried by the one Christ sends, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our local church, that we may testify together—not in isolation but as a community that has been with Christ from the beginning—supporting one another when the world turns against the Gospel, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For all catechists, teachers, and preachers who bear the witness of Christ in challenging environments.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all who have died testifying to Christ may now dwell with the Advocate who testified with them—the Spirit of truth before the face of the Father, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

Pro Life Option

1.That the Church, guided by the Spirit of truth, may testify to the sanctity of every human life—even in an age when persecution comes from those who believe they offer worship while promoting death, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That lawmakers may examine their consciences in the light of the Advocate's truth: that every unborn child is a life worth defending, even when defending it draws hostility and exclusion, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For children condemned before they are born—rejected by those who do not know the Father or the Son who created them—that the Advocate may testify on their behalf through the voice of the Church, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may not be demoralized by the scale of the evil of abortion, but remember Christ's word—'I told you this so you will not be demoralized'—and continue to testify with courage and love, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.That our parish, dwelling in the Spirit of truth, may be an undaunted community of witnesses for life—knowing that it was Christ who sent the Advocate and who told us this hour would come, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For all who testify publicly to the right to life and face expulsion or professional consequences, that the Advocate may strengthen their voice.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all children lost before birth may dwell with the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, known fully by the one who created them, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

About Prayers of the Faithful

The Prayers of the Faithful, also known as bidding prayers or general intercessions, are an essential part of the Catholic Mass. These prayers allow the congregation to intercede for the needs of the Church, the world, those in authority, those oppressed by various needs, the local community, and the deceased.

Our daily prayers are carefully crafted according to the liturgical calendar, ensuring that each day's intercessions are appropriate for the specific celebration, whether it be a solemnity, feast, memorial, or ordinary day of the liturgical year.
