Prayers of the faithful for Today

Here are prayers of the faithful for this week Monday May 26th 2025 – Sunday 1st June 2025, and written following the instructions of the General instructions of the Roman Missal.

Monday – 26th May 2025

  1. For Pope Leo XIV, that as the first American pope, he may use his unique perspective to bridge divisions within the Church and promote communion amid our beautiful diversity. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That we may follow Christ’s example in recognizing and supporting those living in poverty, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those struggling with financial hardship, that they may find the resources and support they need, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may learn to give generously from our hearts, following the example of the widow in today’s Gospel, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those facing economic uncertainty due to inflation and rising costs, that they may find relief and assistance, let us pray to the Lord.
    I. For the unemployed in our parish,  let us pray to the Lord.
    II. For our departed brothers and sisters, especially N., that they may share in Christ’s eternal light, let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. That Pope Leo XIV may be a healing presence for the Church, bringing together all faithful voices in a spirit of mutual respect and shared mission. Let us pray to the Lord
  2. That we may be inspired by those who give sacrificially for the good of others, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those who work to combat poverty and homelessness in our communities, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may learn to value spiritual wealth above material possessions, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those affected by unemployment and economic instability, let us pray to the Lord.

Tuesday – 27th May 2025

  1. That Pope Leo XIV may foster meaningful ecumenical and interfaith dialogue, promoting respect and cooperation among believers of all traditions. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For those addressing the immigration crisis, that they may implement just and humane policies, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For peace among nations experiencing conflict, especially in regions affected by war, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For young people facing cyberbullying, that they may find support and guidance, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That we may respond with wisdom to those who spread fear and false teachings, let us pray to the Lord.
    I. For our sick, bereaved, etc., special projects or events, let us pray to the Lord.
    II. For all the faithful departed, especially N., let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. That Pope Leo XIV’s diplomatic efforts may promote peace and justice in regions of conflict, especially in the Middle East and Ukraine, following the example of his predecessor. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may work for peace rather than conflict, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those who feel their work is in vain, that they may find renewed purpose in Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may remain faithful to Christ’s teachings in times of uncertainty, let us pray to the Lord.

Wednesday – 28th May 2025

  1. For Pope Leo XIV, that his missionary experience may inspire the Church to renewed evangelization efforts, especially in regions where the faith is growing or faces persecution. Let us pray to the Lord
  2. For leaders in government and public service, that they may govern with wisdom and compassion, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may have courage to testify to our faith in challenging circumstances, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those betrayed by family members because of their beliefs, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For wisdom in responding to those who oppose the faith, let us pray to the Lord.
    I. For those battling addiction in our community, let us pray to the Lord.
    II. For our deceased relatives and friends, especially N., let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. For the unity of Catholics worldwide under the leadership of Pope Leo XIV, that we may set aside our differences to work together for the proclamation of the Gospel. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For those imprisoned for their faith, that they may be strengthened by God’s grace, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For families divided by religious differences, that they may find reconciliation, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may persevere in faith despite opposition and hardship, let us pray to the Lord.

Thursday – 29th May 2025

  1. That Pope Leo XIV’s experience in both North and South America may help him to understand the diverse needs of the global Church and lead with a loving heart for different cultural expressions of our faith. Let us pray to the Lord
  2. For those suffering from depression and anxiety, that they may find hope in Christ who does not break the crushed reed, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those facing persecution for their faith, that they may remain steadfast in their witness, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may recognize the signs of God’s presence in our world, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those who suffer from fear and anxiety about the future, let us pray to the Lord.
    I. For our sick, bereaved, etc., special projects or events, let us pray to the Lord.
    II. For all who have died, especially N., let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. For a spirit of collegiality between our Holy Father and the College of Cardinals, that their cooperation may strengthen the bonds of unity throughout the universal Church. Let us pray to the Lord. 
  2. For peace in regions affected by violence and warfare, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those facing betrayal or rejection, that they may find strength in Christ’s example, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those affected by rising healthcare costs, that they may receive needed care, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. That we may remain hopeful as we await Christ’s return, let us pray to the Lord.

Friday – 30th May 2025

  1. For Pope Leo XIV, that he may lead the Church with courage and transparency in addressing the wounds of sexual abuse, bringing healing to victims and accountability to the institution. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For those experiencing persecution, that they may forgive their persecutors, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may live in readiness for Christ’s return, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For the conversion of those who oppose the Gospel, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those seeking eternal life through faith in Christ, let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1.  For Pope Leo XIV, that he may continue to foster the inclusion and meaningful participation of women in Church leadership, building on his previous work in the Dicastery for Bishops. Let us pray to the Lord
  2. For justice in our world and the triumph of good over evil, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For victims of violent crime, that they may find healing and justice, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those who have lost hope in God’s promises, let us pray to the Lord.

Saturday – 31st May 2025

  1.  For Pope Leo XIV, that the same Holy Spirit who guided him during his years as a missionary in South America may continue to inspire his leadership and vision for the Church throughout the world. Let us pray to the Lord
  2. For lawmakers addressing immigration reform, that they may act with wisdom and compassion, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may have courage to share our faith with others, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For unity among all Christians in spreading the Good News, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those who have yet to hear the message of Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
    I. For those suffering from anxiety in our community,  let us pray to the Lord.
    II. For our deceased brothers and sisters, especially N., let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. That the Holy Spirit may inflame in all Catholics a spirit of faithful obedience to our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, as he continues the reforms begun by his predecessor. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For civil authorities, that they may protect the vulnerable, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For missionaries spreading the Gospel throughout the world, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may answer Christ’s call to discipleship with courage, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those preparing for ministry in the Church, let us pray to the Lord.
    I. For victims of domestic violence in our parish, let us pray to the Lord.

Sunday – 1st June 2025

  1. For the gift of courage for Pope Leo XIV, that the Holy Spirit may embolden him to proclaim the Gospel with conviction and to be a prophetic voice in our troubled times. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For peace among nations, that conflict may give way to harmony, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those persecuted for their faith, that they may find strength in Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may remain vigilant in preparation for Christ’s coming, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For the grace to walk in the light of the Lord, let us pray to the Lord.

    II. For the faithful departed, especially N., that they may rejoice forever in God’s presence, let us pray to the Lord.

  1.  For protection for Pope Leo XIV, that the Lord may guard him from all harm and keep him safe in his apostolic journeys throughout the world. Let us pray to the Lord.
