Here are prayers of the faithful for this week Monday January 6th – Sunday January 12th 2025, and written following the instructions of the General instructions of the Roman Missal.

Monday – January 6, 2025

  1. For the Church, that we may faithfully keep God’s commandments and do what is pleasing to him, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may govern with wisdom and justice, promoting the common good, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may grow in our ability to recognize the Spirit of truth and reject falsehood, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those suffering from seasonal affective disorder, that they may find hope and healing in Christ’s light, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For families struggling with rising costs of living, that they may receive the support they need, let us pray to the Lord.

I. For those suffering from anxiety and depression in our community, that they may find peace and healing, let us pray to the Lord.

II. For those who have died, that they may dwell in the light of God’s presence, especially N., let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. That the Church may boldly proclaim Christ as the light dawning in darkness, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For those working to address gun violence, that they may find effective solutions to promote public safety, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may have the courage to test the spirits and stand firm in our faith, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those battling addiction, that they may find freedom and healing in Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For educators and students returning to school, that this may be a time of growth in knowledge and wisdom, let us pray to the Lord.

Tuesday – January 7, 2025

  1. That the Church may be a visible sign of God’s love in the world, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For government leaders, that they may work to ensure access to affordable healthcare for all, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may grow in our understanding of God’s love shown through Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those who feel unloved or abandoned, that they may experience God’s endless love, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For the hungry and malnourished, that they may receive the nourishment they need, let us pray to the Lord.

I. For our sick, bereaved, etc., special projects or events, let us pray to the Lord.

II. For those who have died, especially N., that they may feast at the banquet of eternal life, let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. For the Church, that we may be faithful witnesses to God’s love made manifest in Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For those working to reduce the federal budget deficit, that they may make wise decisions for the good of all, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may show compassion to those who are like sheep without a shepherd, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those facing food insecurity, that they may be satisfied through the generosity of others, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For medical researchers, that their work may lead to breakthroughs in treating diseases, let us pray to the Lord.

Wednesday – January 8, 2025

  1. For the holy Catholic Church, that she may faithfully prepare the way for Christ in the hearts of all people, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may work together to address climate change and protect our common home, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may grow in confidence as we strive to be like Christ in this world, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those paralyzed by fear and anxiety, that they may find peace in God’s love, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For sailors and all who work at sea, that Christ may calm the storms they face, let us pray to the Lord.

I. For our sick, bereaved, etc., special projects or events, let us pray to the Lord.

II. For our deceased brothers and sisters, especially N., that they may see God face to face, let us pray to the Lord.

  1. For the Church, that we may be strengthened to testify that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world, let us pray to the Lord.

Thursday – January 9, 2025

  1. That the Church may be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Good News, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For elected officials, that they may work to uphold religious freedom and human dignity, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. That we may show our love for God by keeping his commandments, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For the poor and oppressed, that they may experience the freedom Christ came to bring, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those who feel burdened, that they may find Christ’s yoke easy and his burden light, let us pray to the Lord.

I. For our sick and bereaved, that they may find comfort in the love of Christ, let us pray to the Lord.

II. For our departed loved ones, especially N., that they may be welcomed into the eternal light of Christ, let us pray to the Lord.

  1. That the Church may always bear faithful witness to Christ, who came by water and blood, let us pray to the Lord.

  3. That we may grow in our faith in Jesus as the Son of God, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those suffering from leprosy and other stigmatizing diseases, that they may know Christ’s healing touch, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For scientists and medical researchers, that their work may lead to new treatments and cures, let us pray to the Lord.

  5. For those who feel their joy is incomplete, that they may find fulfillment in Christ, let us pray to the Lord.

  3. That we may live out our baptismal calling to be a light for the nations, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those imprisoned unjustly, that they may be freed from their captivity, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those suffering from blindness, physical or spiritual, that their eyes may be opened to God’s love, let us pray to the Lord.
  6. That we may grow in our identity as beloved children of God, let us pray to the Lord.
