Prayers of the faithful for Today

Here are prayers of the faithful for this week (Monday August 19th – Sunday August 25th), and written following the instructions of the General instructions of the Roman Missal.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL THIS WEEK (August 19 – 25)

The sets of intentions in this post contain two optional intentions, labeled I and II. Intention I addresses a local, topical need for the living, while Intention II is for the deceased, with an option to add names if customary.

Monday – August 19th, 2024

  1. That the Church may be strengthened in her mission of evangelization, proclaiming the Gospel with joy and conviction in both word and deed, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may govern with wisdom and compassion, prioritizing the well-being of their people, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those struggling with anxiety and depression, that they may find strength and healing through God’s love, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For young people discerning their vocation, that they may have the courage to follow Christ’s call, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For the poor and marginalized in our society, that they may receive the support and resources they need to live with dignity, let us pray to the Lord.

II. That the Son of Man may grant eternal rest to those who have died, especially [names], and comfort their grieving families with the hope of resurrection, let us pray to the Lord.

  2. For elected officials, that they may work tirelessly to address the needs of the most vulnerable in society, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those facing unemployment, that they may find meaningful work and financial stability, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For families experiencing conflict, that they may find reconciliation and renewed love through God’s grace, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For victims of bullying, that they may find support, healing, and the courage to stand up for themselves, let us pray to the Lord.

I. For the sick members of our parish, especially those battling chronic illnesses, that they may find comfort and healing, let us pray to the Lord.

Tuesday – August 20th, 2024

  1. For all members of the Church, that we may grow in holiness and be faithful witnesses to Christ’s love in our families, workplaces, and communities, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For those in positions of power and wealth, that they may use their resources to benefit the common good, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those struggling with pride and arrogance, that they may learn the value of humility and service to others, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For young people discerning their life’s path, that they may prioritize spiritual wealth over material possessions, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those facing financial hardship, that they may receive the support they need and find hope in God’s providence, let us pray to the Lord.

  5. For those who feel abandoned or forgotten by society, that they may experience God’s love through the kindness of others, let us pray to the Lord.
