Here are prayers of the faithful for this week (Monday August 12th – Sunday August 18th), and written following the instructions of the General instructions of the Roman Missal.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL THIS WEEK (August 12 – 18)
The sets of intentions in this post contain two optional intentions, labeled I and II. Intention I addresses a local, topical need for the living, while Intention II is for the deceased, with an option to add names if customary.
Monday – August 12th, 2024
- For the Church, that she may be a beacon of God’s glory in the world, radiating His light to all nations, let us pray to the Lord.
- For world leaders, that they may govern with wisdom and justice, guided by God’s hand, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those struggling with anxiety and depression, that they may find comfort and healing in God’s presence, let us pray to the Lord.
- For our community, that we may open our hearts to God’s voice and respond with faith and courage, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may follow Christ’s example of humility and service, setting aside our pride and embracing God’s will, let us pray to the Lord.
I. For those affected by recent natural disasters, that they may receive the support and resources they need to rebuild their lives, let us pray to the Lord.
II. That the Son of Man may grant his salvation to those who have died, especially [names], let us pray to the Lord.
OPTION #2:
- For the holy Catholic Church, that she may be strengthened in her mission to proclaim God’s word and minister to all people, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those in positions of authority, that they may use their power to serve the common good and protect the vulnerable, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those battling addiction, that they may find strength in God’s love and support in their journey to recovery, let us pray to the Lord.
- For scientists and researchers, that their work may lead to advancements that benefit humanity and reveal the wonders of God’s creation, let us pray to the Lord.
- For educators and students preparing for the new school year, that they may be filled with enthusiasm for learning and teaching, let us pray to the Lord.

Tuesday – August 13th, 2024
- For the Church under persecution, that the faith and sacraments may hold the people together, let us pray to the Lord.
- For world leaders, that they may work tirelessly for peace and justice in all nations, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who feel lost or abandoned, that they may experience God’s loving embrace through the kindness of others, let us pray to the Lord.
- For parents and guardians, that they may nurture the faith of the children in their care and lead by example, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may have the courage to speak God’s truth with love and compassion, even in the face of opposition, let us pray to the Lord.
I. For those affected by bullying in schools and workplaces, that they may find support and strength to overcome their struggles, let us pray to the Lord.
II. That the Son of Man may grant his salvation to those who have died, especially [names], let us pray to the Lord.
OPTION #2:
- That Christ, obedient to his Father, may guide all members of the Church to trust in God’s promises, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those in public service, that they may work diligently to address the needs of the most vulnerable in our society, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those struggling with unemployment, that they may find meaningful work that utilizes their talents and provides for their needs, let us pray to the Lord.
- For children and youth, that they may grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man, let us pray to the Lord.
- For all who are sick or suffering, that they may find healing and comfort through the loving care of those around them, let us pray to the Lord.

Wednesday – August 14th, 2024
- For the Church in her universal ministry of mercy and forgiveness, let us pray to the Lord.
- For government officials, that they may work to break unjust fetters and let the oppressed go free, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those experiencing homelessness, that they may find shelter and support through the generosity of their communities, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who are hungry, that they may be nourished both physically and spiritually through acts of kindness and charity, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may have the courage to stand up for justice and work to alleviate the suffering of others, let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:
- For the holy Catholic Church, that she may be a light in the darkness, guiding all people to God’s love and mercy, let us pray to the Lord.

- For those suffering from chronic illness, that they may find strength and hope in God’s healing presence, let us pray to the Lord.
- For families experiencing financial hardship, that they may receive the support and resources they need to overcome their challenges, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who feel isolated or lonely, that they may find comfort and companionship in our faith community, let us pray to the Lord.
I. For local initiatives addressing mental health awareness, that they may reach those in need and promote understanding and support, let us pray to the Lord.

Thursday – August 15th, 2024 (Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary)
- For the Church, that like Mary, she may be a faithful witness to God’s love and mercy in the world, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those in positions of authority, that they may use their power to uplift the lowly and work for the good of all people, let us pray to the Lord.
- For expectant mothers, that they may be blessed with safe pregnancies and healthy deliveries, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, that they may find hope and strength in Mary’s example of trust in God, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may, like Mary, respond to God’s call with faith and courage, saying “yes” to His will in our lives, let us pray to the Lord.
I. For those in our community struggling with depression and anxiety, that they may find hope and healing through professional help and community support, let us pray to the Lord.
II. That the Son of Man may grant his salvation to those who have died, especially [names], let us pray to the Lord.
OPTION #2:
- That the holy Catholic Church may be united in fidelity to the Pope and Bishops, let us pray to the Lord.
- For world leaders, that they may work to promote peace and justice, following Mary’s example of humility and service, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those facing persecution for their faith, that they may find strength and courage in Mary’s unwavering trust in God, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may honor Mary by imitating her virtues of faith, hope, and love in our daily lives, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who are sick or suffering, that they may find comfort and healing through the intercession of Mary, Mother of God, let us pray to the Lord.
I. For local organizations working to support and empower women, that they may be successful in their efforts to promote dignity and equality, let us pray to the Lord.

Friday – August 16th, 2024
- For the Church, that she may always be a faithful witness to God’s covenant of love with humanity, let us pray to the Lord.
- For world leaders, that they may work to uphold the sanctity of marriage and family life in their nations, let us pray to the Lord.
- For couples experiencing marital difficulties, that they may find healing, reconciliation, and renewed love through God’s grace, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who feel ashamed or burdened by past mistakes, that they may experience God’s mercy and forgiveness, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may have the courage to live out our commitments with fidelity and love, especially in times of difficulty, let us pray to the Lord.

Saturday – August 17th, 2024

- For world leaders, that they may govern with justice and compassion, respecting the dignity of every human life, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those burdened by debt or financial hardship, that they may find relief and support through just policies and compassionate communities, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those struggling with guilt or shame, that they may experience God’s merciful love and find the courage to begin anew, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may be good stewards of the earth’s resources, using them wisely and sharing them generously with those in need, let us pray to the Lord.

- For those facing discrimination or prejudice, that they may be treated with dignity and respect in our communities, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may have the courage to turn away from sin and embrace a life of virtue and holiness, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who feel lost or far from God, that they may experience His loving presence and invitation to return, let us pray to the Lord.

Sunday – August 18th, 2024

- For world leaders, that they may work to address hunger and malnutrition in their nations and throughout the world, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who hunger for meaning and purpose in their lives, that they may find fulfillment in Christ, the Bread of Life, let us pray to the Lord.
- For those who teach and share the faith, that they may be filled with wisdom and zeal in their mission, let us pray to the Lord.
- That we may grow in our appreciation for the gift of the Eucharist and allow it to transform our lives, let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:
