The sets of intentions in this post contain two optional intentions, labeled I and II. Intention I addresses a local, topical need for the living, while Intention II is for the deceased, with an option to add names if customary.

OPTION #1

  1. For the Church, that she may never get weary of announcing the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light. Let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may work towards peace and the common good, promoting the dignity of every person. Let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For the oppressed and those burdened by worldly desires, that they may find freedom and hope in Christ. Let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For our community, that we may support one another in our spiritual journey and grow together in faith. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those who are suffering, especially the sick and the poor, that they may find solace in God’s loving care. Let us pray to the Lord.

II. For the souls of the faithful departed, particularly N., that they may rest in the peace of Christ. Let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2

  1. For the holy Church of God, that all believers may be united in proclaiming the wonderful deeds of the Lord who called us from darkness into his marvelous light, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That civil authorities may govern with justice and mercy, maintaining good conduct so as to lead their people in tranquil and quiet lives, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those burdened by poverty, hunger, or oppression, that they may find relief through the spiritual sacrifices and good works of Christ’s faithful, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For our parish community, that like living stones we may be built into a spiritual house offering acceptable prayer to God through Jesus Christ, let us pray to the Lord.

II. That the Son of Man may grant his salvation to those who have died, especially N., let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #3

  1. That the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church may be a beacon of Christ’s light for all peoples, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For those in authority, that they may honor human dignity and the common good of all, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For all who suffer persecution, discrimination, or contempt because of race, religion, or way of life, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. That we may be living stones built into God’s spiritual house through our fidelity to the Gospel, let us pray to the Lord.

II. That the Son of Man may grant his salvation to those who have died, especially N., let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #4

  1. For the holy Church, that she may be a faithful witness to the truth which sets all people free, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. That civil leaders may remove the cloaks of injustice, and spring up to follow the way of Jesus who hears the cry of the poor, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those weighed down by any need, illness, or anxiety, that they may experience the healing mercy of Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For our parish family, that our faith in the Lord Jesus may save us and lead us on his way, let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #5

  4. For our local parish, that we may grow in holiness and be a beacon of God’s love in our community. Let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those who are ill or suffering, that they may find healing and comfort in Christ. Let us pray to the Lord.
