General Intercessions for Sunday Mass for Monday, 9th Week in Ordinary Time

Option 1

1.For the Church, that she may be the community of the Beatitudes โ€” poor in spirit, merciful, pure of heart, peacemaking โ€” and so be salt of the earth and light of the world, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.For world leaders, that they may hunger and thirst for righteousness, governing not for applause or power but for the true flourishing of every person entrusted to their care, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who mourn โ€” the grieving, the brokenhearted, those crushed by loss โ€” that Christ's promise may reach them: 'Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted,' let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may embrace the poverty of spirit that opens us to God, the meekness that trusts rather than grasps, and the purity of heart that sees God in all things and all people, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For the faithful departed, that the merciful may obtain mercy before God's throne, and that all who were persecuted for righteousness may now inherit the Kingdom of heaven, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For peacemakers in families, communities, and nations, that they may truly be called children of God.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all who have died may rejoice and be glad in the Kingdom promised to those who lived the Beatitudes, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

Option 2

1.For Pope Leo XIV and all who preach the Sermon on the Mount, that they may not soften the Beatitudes but proclaim them as the true portrait of Christian happiness โ€” God's reversal of the world's values, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That governments and civil leaders may be inspired by the Beatitudes to build societies that honor the meek, protect those who mourn, and pursue justice not merely legality, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who are persecuted for their faith and insulted because of Christ, that they may hear his words: 'Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven,' let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.That we may sit again at the feet of Jesus on the mountain and hear the Beatitudes as if for the first time โ€” not as impossible demands but as descriptions of who we become when we let God transform us, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For our parish, that the Beatitudes may be the measure by which we judge our community's health: are we poor in spirit? Are we merciful? Are we makers of peace? let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For those who feel that poverty or sorrow or powerlessness is their permanent condition, that the Beatitudes may speak God's reversal into their lives.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all the faithful departed may be received with the words that echo the Beatitudes: 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom,' let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

Pro Life Option

1.For the Church, that she may live the Beatitude of mercy in defending every unborn child, showing the same compassion to women in crisis as Christ showed to the poor and mourning on the mountain, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That legislators who hunger and thirst for true righteousness may protect children in the womb through just laws, for righteousness demands the defense of the most helpless, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For women facing unplanned pregnancies who mourn, who feel powerless, who are afraid, that Christ's Beatitudes may reach them as real promises of comfort, inheritance, and the Kingdom, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
4.For all who work as peacemakers between a mother in crisis and her unborn child, offering care and alternatives to abortion, that they may be called children of God, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
5.For children lost to abortion, for their mothers who carry grief, and for all who work to build a culture of life โ€” that the reward promised to those who suffer for righteousness may be theirs in full, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
Optional:For the poor in spirit who serve mothers and children in crisis โ€” pregnancy centers, shelters, adoptive families โ€” that their hidden sacrifice may be seen by God.Lord, hear our prayer.
That N. and all the faithful departed, including the unborn, may rejoice in the Kingdom promised to the poor in spirit, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
