Option 1
1.That the Church, continuing the mission entrusted to the Apostles, may always be guided by the Holy Spirit in choosing her leaders and proclaiming the Gospel, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That world leaders may be chosen for their integrity and dedication to service, working for the true good of their people, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For all who are called to positions of leadership and responsibility in the Church, that they may be faithful witnesses to Christ, like Saint Matthias, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

1.That the Church, standing in the 'little while' between Christ's departure and his return in glory, may keep vigil with hope—knowing that grief is already being transformed into joy through the resurrection, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That world leaders may govern with the wisdom of those who know the present moment is not the final word—that grief can become joy and darkness give way to the light Christ promised, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who weep and mourn while the world rejoices—the persecuted, the bereaved, the marginalized—that Christ's promise may sustain them: 'your grief will become joy,' let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.

Option 1
1.That the Church, sent by the ascending Christ to be witnesses to all nations, may proclaim repentance and forgiveness in his name with the courage and joy of those clothed with power from on high, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
2.That world leaders may recognize that the one who is Lord of all has ascended above all earthly powers—and may govern in the light of that eternal truth, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
3.For those who mourn the absence of Christ's visible presence, that they may receive the power he promised and find him truly present in word, sacrament, and the community of his body, let us pray to the Lord.Lord, hear our prayer.
