Here are 7 Different sets of prayers of the faithful specifically for Souls in Purgatory, and written following the instructions of the General instructions of the Roman Missal.

The sets of intentions in this post contain two optional intentions, labeled I and II. Intention I addresses a local, topical need for the living, while Intention II is for the deceased, with an option to add names if customary.

OPTION #1

  1. That the Catholic Church may remain steadfast in unity and love under the leadership of the Pope and Bishops, let us pray to the Lord.

  3. For the souls in purgatory, that through our prayers and the sacrifice of the Mass, they may be cleansed of their sins and enter into the kingdom of heaven, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those who have lost loved ones, that they may be consoled by the promise of the resurrection, let us pray to the Lord.
