Here are prayers of the faithful for this week (Monday July 22th – Sunday July 28th), and written following the instructions of the General instructions of the Roman Missal.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL THIS WEEK (July 22 – 28)

The sets of intentions in this post contain two optional intentions, labeled I and II. Intention I addresses a local, topical need for the living, while Intention II is for the deceased, with an option to add names if customary.

Monday – July 22nd, 2024

  1. For the holy Catholic Church, that she may be united in fidelity to the Pope and Bishops, and effectively proclaim the good news of Christ’s resurrection to all corners of the world, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may work tirelessly to create a new order of peace and justice in our troubled world, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those struggling with anxiety and depression, that they may find hope and healing in Christ’s resurrection, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For all Christians, that we may embrace our identity as a new creation in Christ, letting go of old ways and embracing God’s transformative love, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those who feel lost or abandoned, that like Mary Magdalene, they may encounter the risen Christ in their lives and find renewed purpose, let us pray to the Lord.

I. For our sick, bereaved, and those facing personal challenges in our community, let us pray to the Lord.

II. That the Son of Man may grant his salvation to those who have died, especially N., let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. That the Church may be a beacon of hope and unity, faithfully guiding all believers in the way of Christ’s teachings and sacraments, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For those in positions of authority, that they may use their power to serve others rather than to dominate, following Christ’s example, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those battling addiction, that they may find strength in Christ’s victory over death to overcome their struggles, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For all believers, that we may live as witnesses to Christ’s love, bringing hope and compassion to those around us, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those who feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, that they may find comfort in knowing that nothing is impossible with God, let us pray to the Lord.

Tuesday – July 23rd, 2024

  1. That Christ, obedient to his Father, may guide all members of the Church to trust in God’s promises and be faithful shepherds leading God’s people to spiritual nourishment, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may work towards reconciliation and peace in areas of conflict, reflecting God’s mercy and forgiveness, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those burdened by guilt, that they may experience God’s limitless forgiveness and find freedom in His love, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For families facing discord, that they may find unity and strength in doing God’s will, as Jesus taught, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those struggling with unemployment, that they may find meaningful work and the dignity that comes with it, let us pray to the Lord.

  1. For the Church’s mission of evangelization, that she may courageously spread the Gospel message and draw all people into deeper communion with Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For government officials, that they may lead with compassion and work tirelessly to address the needs of the most vulnerable in society, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those struggling with mental health issues, that they may find support, understanding, and effective treatment, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For all Christians, that we may recognize and honor our spiritual family, doing God’s will in our daily lives, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For environmental stewardship, that we may honor God’s creation by protecting and preserving our natural resources for future generations, let us pray to the Lord.

Wednesday – July 24th, 2024

  1. For the Church, that she may boldly proclaim God’s word to all nations, uprooting injustice and planting seeds of faith and hope, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may have the courage to confront and overcome systems of oppression and inequality, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For young people discerning their vocation, that they may hear God’s call and respond with generosity and trust, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those whose faith feels barren or choked by the cares of the world, that they may experience renewal and bear abundant fruit, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those struggling with addiction, that they may find the strength to break free from destructive patterns and embrace new life in Christ, let us pray to the Lord.

Thursday – July 25th, 2024

  1. For the Church under persecution, that the faith and sacraments may hold the people together, giving them strength to courageously bear witness to Christ’s death and resurrection, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may reject the temptation to dominate others and instead embrace a spirit of service for the common good, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those suffering from chronic illnesses, that they may find strength in uniting their sufferings with Christ’s and experience His healing presence, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For all believers, that we may recognize the treasure of faith we carry in our earthen vessels and allow God’s power to shine through our weaknesses, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those struggling with unemployment or underemployment, that they may find dignified work that allows them to use their gifts in service to others, let us pray to the Lord.

  2. For world leaders, that they may be inspired by the wisdom of illustrious men and women of the past to work for the common good and lasting peace, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For parents and guardians, that they may pass on the treasure of faith to their children through word and example, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those who feel spiritually blind or deaf, that they may be blessed with eyes to see and ears to hear God’s presence in their lives, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those struggling with addiction, that they may find the strength to break free from destructive patterns and embrace a life of sobriety and wholeness, let us pray to the Lord.

  3. For educators and mentors, that they may help their students and protégés to see and hear the wonders of God’s creation and revelation, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For those suffering from depression or anxiety, that they may find hope and healing in the enduring love of God, let us pray to the Lord.

  2. For world leaders, that they may work to create just societies where the rights of the vulnerable are protected and human dignity is respected, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For those who feel spiritually lost or disconnected, that they may experience a renewal of faith and find their way back to God’s loving embrace, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For farmers and agricultural workers, that their labors may be blessed with abundant harvests to feed the hungry, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those struggling with substance abuse, that they may find the strength to overcome their addiction and rebuild their lives, let us pray to the Lord.

  4. For all Christians, that we may bear good fruit in our lives, resisting the temptations of the world and growing in holiness, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those suffering from mental health issues, that they may receive the support and treatment they need to find healing and peace, let us pray to the Lord.

  3. For those facing food insecurity, that they may receive the sustenance they need and never lose hope in God’s care for them, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For all believers, that we may recognize Jesus as the true bread of life and find nourishment in His word and sacraments, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For those struggling with eating disorders, that they may find healing, support, and a healthy relationship with food and their bodies, let us pray to the Lord.
