Prayers of the Faithful for War – #8 OPTIONS

Here are 8 Different sets of prayers of the faithful specifically for war, and written following the instructions of the General instructions of the Roman Missal.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL FOR WAR

OPTION #1:

  1. That the Church may be a beacon of peace in times of conflict and division, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For world leaders, that they may choose dialogue over violence and peace over war, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For soldiers in combat zones, that they may be protected from harm, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For civilians caught in war zones, that they may find safety and shelter, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For military chaplains ministering in dangerous areas, that they may bring Christ’s comfort, let us pray to the Lord.
    I. For veterans in our community struggling with PTSD, that they may find healing and support, let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #2:

  1. That the Church may effectively promote reconciliation among nations at war, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For diplomats working to prevent armed conflicts, that their efforts may succeed, let us pray to the Lord.
  3. For families separated by war, that they may be reunited, let us pray to the Lord.
  4. For humanitarian aid workers in conflict zones, that they may safely reach those in need, let us pray to the Lord.
  5. For child soldiers, that they may be freed from violence and find rehabilitation, let us pray to the Lord.
    I.  For our sick, bereaved, etc., special projects or events, let us pray to the Lord.
    II. For the victims of genocide and war crimes, especially N., that they may find justice in God’s kingdom, let us pray to the Lord.

OPTION #3:

  1. That the Church may be an instrument of peace in regions torn by conflict, let us pray to the Lord.
  2. For peacekeeping forces, that they may effectively protect vulnerable populations, let us pray to the Lord.
